Performance of Night Vision by Rosa Maria, Fàbrica Nova, Barcelona, Spain

Video, 6:28 min, 2024. Video documentation by Lorena Alvarado

Night Vision is a 14-meter watergram first exposed in Zabriskie’s Waterfall (Saw Kill, Annandale-on-Hudson), treating water as a material force. As a performance, it reveals itself gradually, section by section, before disappearing.

Later staged in Fàbrica Nova, an abandoned weaving factory in Manresa, Catalunya, the piece invoked the Torrent de Sant Ignasi, a river once central to the factory’s operation but later diverted for industrial expansion. By bringing the image of one river into the site of another, Night Vision reflects on impermanence, displacement, and the unseen histories carried by water.
