Can the healing effect of a remedy be felt from afar just by reading its name?
Agua de Azar is a play on the traditional Peruvian remedy Agua de Azahar, using light to explore how meaning slips between what is visible and what is not. The installation dismantles photography’s core mechanisms: capturing, fixing, and presenting a stable image. Unlike a permanent photographic print, the viewer must orbit around the piece to find the correct position, and only then does the text fully reveal itself.
Agua de Azahar is not present; instead, it is summoned in the viewer’s mind through language. This gesture draws a parallel between the fluidity of water and the instability of perception, both shaped by individual interpretation.
